Arkansas PBS Foundation offers attorney-led workshops to educate attendees about the importance of planning for the future
CONWAY, Ark. (Arkansas PBS) — This February, the Arkansas PBS Foundation will host two free sessions of Estate Planning Basics, addressing the importance of planning for the future. These workshops – to be held in Fayetteville and Hot Springs Village – invite guests to learn about their options whether they are starting to consider their estate plans or seeking a refresher on the topic.
The Foundation will host the following events:
- Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 11:30 a.m., Fayetteville Public Library, 401 W. Mountain St., with estate planning attorney Ed McClure.
- Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11:30 a.m., Ponce de Leon Center, 1101 Desoto Blvd, Hot Springs Village, with estate planning attorney Gayle Corley.
Each event will cover the essential documents needed to create an estate plan and address important end-of-life issues. A boxed lunch will be provided for all attendees. These events are free and open to the public with registration required at myarpbs.org/eventbrite. Seating is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
Ed McClure graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, in 1982 and worked for a year in the Iowa House of Representatives. He then attended the University of Arkansas School of Law, graduating in 1986. While in law school, he was hired as a law clerk by Matthews, Campbell, and Rhoads – and has been there since, as an associate attorney and now partner. McClure focuses his practice in three areas: Family Law (Divorce, Guardianships, Child Custody, Probates, and Estate Planning); Criminal Law (Traffic Offenses, Misdemeanor Offences, and Felony Criminal Cases); and Real Estate (Landlord Tenant Law, Evictions, and Real Estate Transactions). He is an "A" Rated attorney from the peer ratings of Martindale Hubbell.
Gayle Corley focuses her practice on estate planning, long-term care planning and probate. She enjoys interacting with clients and their family members to create wills, trusts, powers of attorney and other estate planning documents that meet their specific needs and counseling her clients through difficult situations. Corley’s elder law practice includes assisting clients with Medicaid and Veterans pension eligibility – whether in a crisis or with planning strategies that protect assets from the costs of long-term care and unscrupulous people who prey on the elderly. Early in her career, Corley represented many clients with respect to commercial real estate acquisition, sale, development, leasing and financing, and she continues to assist clients with real estate transactions. Corley is licensed to practice law in Arkansas and New York and brings years of insight to every client she has the pleasure of serving. When away from the office, Corley enjoys travel, film, live theatre, and spending time with her family, friends and two dogs.
Generous support for these workshops on Estate Planning Basics is provided by the Susan Howarth Foundation.
