Events to feature PBS KIDS characters, educational activities, entertainment
CONWAY, Ark. (Arkansas PBS) — Arkansas PBS Family Day – a free public event that encourages community spirit through family-friendly fun, entertainment and educational activities – will return to the Jones Center in Springdale Saturday, Oct. 12, and to Conway Saturday, Oct. 19. Both events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families are encouraged to RSVP at myarpbs.org/events.
This year’s theme is “‘T’ is for Together,” and the events will feature PBS KIDS costume characters, free healthy snacks for children, storytelling, live entertainment, hands-on kids’ activities, crafts and games, giveaways and prizes, and an Arkansas PBS pop-up shop.
Special guests for each event include Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George, Elinor from “Elinor Wonders Why” and Daniel Tiger from “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood”! Families are invited to meet and take photos with the characters. Children are also encouraged to dress as their favorite PBS KIDS characters.
Additional free activities and entertainment planned for the Springdale event include:
- Live music performances by Papa Rap.
- Interactive activities with the Scott Family Amazeum, TheatreSquared, Springdale Public Library, Flip Side Ninja Park and EAST Initiative.
- Exploration of a firetruck with the Springdale Fire Department.
- Exploration of a giant brain with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
- A first-aid station from Baptist Health.
- Sidewalk chalk art time and bubbles.
Additional free activities and entertainment planned for the Conway event include:
- Live music performances by mömandpöp and Papa Rap.
- Old State House Museum traveling exhibit, “Lights! Camera! Action!”
- A presentation with live animals from the Little Rock Zoo.
- Interactive activities with The Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub, Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, Faulkner County Library, Conway Symphony Orchestra and EAST Initiative.
- Exploration of a giant brain with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
- A family building game with Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.
- A first-aid station from Baptist Health.
- Face painting.
- Exploration of a firetruck with the Conway Fire Department.
- Sidewalk chalk art time and bubbles.

Local food trucks at the Conway event including Nach’yo Nachos, Flour Power Bakery, Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe, Millie’s Fish & Shrimp and Q’s Cool Cups Shaved Ice will be on hand for additional food and snacks for purchase.
