Event featuring new PBS KIDS series to celebrate neurodiversity with activities, games, low sensory quiet room
CONWAY, Ark. (Arkansas PBS) — Arkansas PBS in partnership with HorsePlay Hippotherapy & Therapeutic Riding, Inc., Milestones Services, Inc., The Arkansas Autism Resource & Outreach Center, Faulkner County Library and Therapy Monkey will host a free screening event Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. featuring episodes of the new PBS KIDS series “Carl the Collector.”
“Carl the Collector,” which premiered in November, follows the everyday adventures of Carl, a warm-hearted autistic raccoon who enjoys collecting things and loves his friends and family in Fuzzytown. Through its relatable stories, characters and messages – and with a production team that includes neurodiverse writers, production staff, animators, advisors and voice talent – “Carl the Collector” showcases and celebrates individual differences and commonalities and that everyone has something unique to offer.
Arkansas PBS will host preview screenings of “Carl the Collector” at the Faulkner County Library, 1900 Tyler St., Conway, Feb. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. Activities will include crafting collector jars, pony petting, storytime, sensory hand tattoos, snacks and more. Additionally, a low-sensory quiet room will be available, and other accommodation may be requested during registration.
