Jason Kunau, CGFM, CICA
Associate Executive Director & CFO

Jason Kunau is Associate Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Arkansas PBS, the statewide public media network serving Arkansas’s more than 3 million citizens. Kunau joined Arkansas PBS in 2024, bringing extensive experience as a highly accomplished financial executive with a strong government finance and internal controls background. Kunau is a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) and a Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA).

In his current role as the Associate Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Kunau manages the annual budget, directs the activities of operations and personnel, and represents the agency during legislative and financial meetings. His efforts ensure compliance with federal and state audit recommendations and enhance the efficiency of the network’s operations.

Previously, Kunau served as a Chief Financial Officer at the Arkansas Department of Human Services. There, he managed social service grants, mental health grants, substance use grants, as well as aging and adult grant programs. His leadership improved service delivery and ensured financial integrity within the department.

Kunau's extensive experience includes his tenure as the Assistant Director of Tax and Trade Practice at the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, where he developed audit programs, recommended legislative changes, and ensured compliance with federal and state laws. His role involved close collaboration with federal and state officials and external stakeholders.

Earlier in his career, Kunau held positions as an Investment Accountant with the Retirement Systems of Alabama, an Accounting Supervisor at Wyndham Vacation Resorts, and a Staff Auditor at the Missouri State Auditor’s Office. His technical expertise was further honed as a Technical Analyst at Steward Capital Advisors.

Kunau's comprehensive understanding of government finance, internal controls, and investment management, combined with his dedication to public service, make him an invaluable asset to Arkansas PBS. His strategic leadership and commitment to excellence are critical to drive the financial stability and operational success of the network.
